Ashley Monroe is a dancer, certified personal trainer, and the owner of the burlesque company The Silky Sirens. She attended California State University of Chico, where she studied Musical Theatre & Dance and Women's Studies, and where she also co-directed the Chico Dance Theatre. Her last piece in college was secretly dedicated to her roommate who had been raped her sophomore year, the same year that Ashley’s own sexual assault took place. Since then, she has empowered women through dance pieces and spoken word poems, always highlighting the message that every woman has the right to be who she is and to claim her body as her own.
